USCCA Certified Firearms Instructor
Brett is the founder and lead instructor at Olympic Defense, bringing over 25 years of professional and personal firearms experience to every course. As a USCCA-certified instructor, he is committed to empowering responsible gun ownership through expert-led training in gun safety, concealed carry, and home defense. His practical, no-nonsense approach ensures that every student—from first-time shooters to seasoned professionals—gains the confidence and skills they need to stay safe.
Having grown up in Alaska, of which several years living in the “bush”, Brett learned to hunt, fish, and responsibly carry and use firearms at a very young age. Enjoying the outdoors of Alaska taught him not only the fundamentals of firearms and marksmanship, but a deep understanding of personal responsibility, situational awareness, and the importance of preparation.
After honorably serving in the U.S. Navy as an In-Flight Avionics Technician and combat Aircrewman, Brett transitioned to a career in technology, physical security, cybersecurity, and investigative work. In addition to being the Chief Information Officer and Chief Security Officer for a 2 billion dollar publicly traded bank for 13 years, he operated businesses as a licensed Private Investigator in Arizona and Idaho, and a Private Process Server across Arizona, Idaho, and Washington State. In these roles, he carried concealed professionally every day—refining his judgment, tactics, and ability to respond calmly under pressure and de-escalate high stress situations.
Building on decades of real-world experience, Brett now dedicates himself to teaching others. His training programs blend clear, safety-first instruction with a relaxed learning environment, covering everything from legal considerations of concealed carry to effective home-defense strategies. Whether in a small group workshop or one-on-one coaching, Brett tailors each session to meet students’ individual needs and learning styles.
